Revolution Printing Guide
Screen Printing
Suitable for:
- Small and large designs up to seven colours.
- Print runs of 12+ shirts. Most cost effective for printing large numbers of shirts. The fewer the quantity of shirts the less cost effective it is to print multiple colours.
- Very durable and smooth print feel
- Big bold designs but also fine detail, half tones and other print effects.
- Most garments without a pile or very textured surface. Not suitable for caps.
How does it work?
In Screen Printing a 'screen' is created by applying a chemical emulsion to a woven mesh to create a stencil. The open areas allow ink to pass through the mesh onto the garment underneath to create the image.
One colour can be applied at a time in screen printing and each additional colour requires a separate screen. For this reason screen prining is not so economical for small print runs with many colours. For longer print runs, however, screen printing offers the most cost-effective option.
Screen printed designs are also very durable and wash well. The nature of the printing process allows for creative print effects such as textured print and half-tones. Images with fine detail can be reproduced as well.
It doesn't cost more for a larger design either. So it is a great option for big and bold designs.

What does it cost?
When you order screen printing the cost comes in two parts.
Firstly there is a fixed set-up cost for each screen. At Revolution we charge £15 for each screen (colour) you requre.
The printing cost is calculated on a per screen / per item basis. The more items you require the lower the cost per print becomes. Also it costs less to add additional colours.
With both costs included the overall price per garment works out as follows:
| Colours | Quantity | |||||
| 10 | 25 | 50 | 100 | 250 | 500 | |
| One | £4 | £2.35 | £1.80 | £1.35 | £0.76 | £0.48 |
| Two | £6.05 | £3.40 | £2.50 | £1.80 | £1.07 | £0.61 |
| Three | £8.10 | £4.45 | £3.20 | £2.25 | £1.38 | £0.74 |
Please note! This is only intended as a guide and does not include the garment cost. You can have up to eight colours in your design and as many garments as necessary. Please phone for the best price available.
